A Marketing Professional and Blogger
About
I started my career in hospitality and tourism. In 2007 I graduated from George Brown College and started working for 5 diamond resorts and hotels. Through my work in hotel guest services I was introduced to event coordination. Wanting to develop my interest in events, I went back to school and graduated with my Diploma in Event Management. I was hired out of school by one of Vancouver's top event production companies, MVKA. It was my background in hospitality that made me stand out from other applicants. Later, I decided to gain more experience as a vendor in the events industry and joined the team at A&B Partytime Rentals where I worked with event producers in Vancouver and provided them with stages, tenting, décor, outdoor kitchens, and more. After 3 years I took on a role with a popular catering and events company where I got to work on weddings and larger events such as the Pemberton Music Festival and Harvest Haus.

I decided to take a step back from events to focus on gaining more experience in administration and marketing. I worked with GE Capital and spent my spare time contributing to my personal blog and social media, as well as taking on event and marketing consulting roles. Eventually I ended up with Wavefront working in their Vancouver office as the Office Coordinator. The work interested me as I got to work with some of Canada's fastest growing tech startups. The company had a marketing and events team that I worked closely with and after a year I was promoted to Community Manager and happily relocated to Toronto, ON. Wanting to gain more direct marketing experience I joined Urban Bella Marketing and worked with clients like Haribo Candy, Nutrl Vodka, and G&F Financial Group to manage experiential marketing programs for them. Wanting to work in Canada's startup ecosystem again I joined NACO as their Marketing and Communications Manager. At NACO I was responsible for developing and remaining consistent with their marketing strategy. I published content to their social media channels, wrote a blog once a week, and distributed a weekly newsletter.
